HTC installation converting sewage sludge into biochar (HydroChar).

The facility processes approximately 15,000 Mg of sewage sludge annually.

The resulting product is used for land reclamation on degraded sites and for enhancing the quality of usable land.

The described application of the product is known as biochar sequestration—an innovative process that allows for the permanent storage of carbon dioxide (CO₂) in the soil, thereby reducing its presence in the atmosphere.

Biochar, the product of hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) of biomass, has a stable chemical structure that enables long-term carbon retention, potentially lasting hundreds or even thousands of years.

Thanks to this process, it becomes possible to combat climate change by removing CO₂ from the atmosphere and limiting future emissions.
