Przedmiotowa lokalizacja jest instalacją do termicznego przetwarzania biomasy. Inwestorem jest Bergischer Abfallwirtschaftsverband (BAV). Program METABOLON ma międzynarodową renomę w zakresie innowacyjnego wykorzystania materiałów odpadowych. Wyjątkowy system oczyszczania gazu, składa się z dodatkowego etapu chłodzenia, płukania gazu syntezowego i mokrego elektrofiltra. Powstały zakład wspiera rozwój innowacji w zakresie tworzenia wartości w gospodarce obiegu zamkniętego. Celem projektu jest zrównoważenie środowiska, społeczeństwa i gospodarki. Wkładem do produkcji gazu syntezowego jest szeroka gama pozostałości odpadowych. Wybrane rozwiązania technologiczne wskazują możliwą drogę od pozostałości płynnych do hydrotermalnej karbonizacji, przemiany w paliwo stałe, generację gazu w reaktorze double-fire, oraz produkcję neutralnej pod względem emisji CO2 energii lub wodoru czy zielonego tlenek węgla.
